Are you ready for some new Marvel magic?!
Since 2008 and the release of the first Iron-Man movie, the Marvel Cinematic Universe has become one of the most successful media franchises of all time.
With so many compelling characters that audiences can relate to, along with epic and witty storylines, it’s no wonder almost every MCU movie becomes a blockbuster.
2023 is the year MCU kicks off Phase Five and the second part of the Multiverse Saga.
We explore the upcoming 2023 Marvel movies and Disney+ projects that will bring some of the franchise’s most popular characters brought to life on the (big) screen.
February Marvel Movie Releases
1. Ant-Man And The Wasp: Quantumania
Release date: February 17, 2023
Ant-Man And The Wasp: Quantumania is now in theaters.
This is the first movie of MCU’s Phase Five and the third installment in the Ant-Man series.
The story sees Scott Lang (Ant-Man) and Hope Pym (Wasp) stuck in the Quantum Realm — a mysterious alternate dimension Marvel introduced in the first Ant-Man movie.
In the Quantum Realm, Ant-Man and Wasp meet Kang the Conqueror — the main villain in the movie who wants to take over the Multiverse. With Thanos the Mad Titan gone, could Kang the Conqueror be his worthy successor?
The secondary villain in the movie is M.O.D.O.K. (which stands for Mental Mobile Mechanized Organism Designed Only for Killing). We don’t want to give away too much, but Ant-Man 3 ties the psychotic M.O.D.O.K. to a villain that appeared in the first Ant-Man movie.
Ant-Man 3 carries a lot of weight on its shoulders, closing the Ant-Man trilogy and kicking off MCU’s Phase Five. If you’ve already seen the movie (or plan on it), share your impressions with us in the comments!
May Marvel Movie Releases
1. Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 3
Release Date: May 5, 2023
Star-Lord is back!
Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 3 is set to hit the theaters in early May, and we can’t wait to watch this movie!
The third (and, probably, the last) Guardians movie will likely close the story of the beloved characters, including Star-Lord, Gamora, Nebula, Rocket, Mantis and the rest of the gang.
In the Guardians Of The Galaxy Holiday Special, we learned some unexpected news about Mantis and Quill, so it’s going to be interesting if and how that part will be included in the third movie.
In Vol. 3, Rocket will get a backstory (we’ll see him as a baby!) and some details from his past will resurge.
That will lead the Guardians on a risky mission that will introduce us to new characters — Adam Warlock, i.e., the Master Of All Souls and the High Evolutionary, who possesses unlimited knowledge.
June Marvel Movie Releases
1. Spider-Man: Across The Spider-Verse
Release Date: June 2, 2023
Although Marvel Studios will release other big movies before June, it seems that all eyes are on Spider-Man: Across The Spider-Verse — the highly anticipated animated sequel to Spider-Man: Into The Spider-Verse.
This Marvel movie will be split into two parts, with the third sequel (Spider-Man: Beyond The Spider-Verse) set for a March 29, 2024 release.
The film features Miles Morales (Spider-Man) who explores the shared multiverse made up of six alternate universes with Gwen Stacy, his love interest.
Gwen invites him to protect the universes of Spider-People (named the Spider-Force) from the supervillain Spot, but the relationship between the Spider-Force and Miles won’t run as smoothly as one might hope.
Spider-Man 2099, Spider-Woman, Spider-Punk and Peter B. Parker will all feature in the film.
October Marvel Movie Releases
1. Kraven The Hunter
Release Date: October 6, 2023
Kraven The Hunter is scheduled for an early October release.
If you’re a fan of Spider-Man comics, you probably know that Kraven the Hunter is Spider-Man’s enemy.
After Venom and Morbius, Kraven will be the third Spider-Man villain to get a movie!
So far, no trailers were released and there are no hints about the plot, but it’s going to be interesting to see how Marvel Studios decides to tell Kraven’s story.
Will Spider-Man make an appearance? Anything’s possible!
What we do know is that Chameleon, Kraven’s half-brother, and Calypso, Kraven’s love interest, will appear in the movie.
November Marvel Movie Releases
1. The Marvels
Release Date: November 10, 2023
Higher. Further. Faster. Together.

— Marvel Studios (@MarvelStudios) February 17, 2023
The Marvels is the upcoming sequel to 2019 Captain Marvel.
The film continues the story of the Ms. Marvel series and it will feature Captain Marvel, Ms. Marvel and Monica Rambeau.
All we know so far about the plot is that whenever the three superheroines use their powers, they swap places with each other.
The trio must discover why that’s happening, and we’re sure we’ll see them embark on some wild adventures.
We also know that Nick Fury (the former director of S.H.I.E.L.D.) will appear in this Marvel movie. He’s been secretly working with the Skrulls, so it’ll be interesting to see what his role in the story of The Marvels will be.
2023 Marvel Project Releases With No Dates Confirmed
1. What If…? Season 2
Release Date: early 2023
What If…? is Marvel Studios’ animated show based on the comic book series of the same name.
As its name suggests, the show explores what if’s — what would happen if some major events in the MCU occurred differently.
In season one, What If…? explored alternate realities of Captain Carter, Star-Lord T’Challa, ultimate Ultron and Doctor Strange Supreme.
So far, the season two cast hasn’t been confirmed, but we do know that the Watcher will come back to narrate the stories and keep the multiverse safe.
2. Secret Invasion
Release Date: Spring 2023
Secret Invasion is a miniseries that will be a part of MCU’s Phase Five.
The series was originally planned to premiere in Spring 2023, but there are some rumors that the premier might be delayed until May.
#SecretInvasion is coming in May. Not March 8th (even though Disney internal still thinks so ). I said earlier the Mandalorian’s 3/1/23 premiere pretty much guaranteed it moving, but I do know now. The D+ slate for 2023 is a good mystery especially after Feige’s words.
— MCU Status (@MCUStatus) February 16, 2023
Secret Invasion is based on Marvel’s comic book storyline of the same name.
In the comic book series, the shapeshifting aliens — the Skrulls — have replaced many of Marvel’s superheroes.
The series will center on Nick Fury who worked with the Skrulls for some time before he came back to Earth.
In the trailer, Nick Fury says to Talos (the member of the Sculls):
“I’m the last person standing between them and what they really want.”
Talos asks him:
“And what is that?”
The miniseries will likely be much darker and more serious than some other Marvel projects (Thor: Love And Thunder, anyone?). We can’t wait to watch it!
3. Loki Season 2
Release Date: Summer 2023
The God of Mischief returns!
Although the plot for Loki season two is being kept under wraps, it’s certain that the storyline will be connected to the Multiverse Saga.
If you haven’t watched season one yet, beware of some spoilers ahead!
In the season one finale, Sylvie pushes Loki into another dimension and then stabs He Who Remains, i.e., one of the versions of Kang the Conqueror. Before he dies, Kang tells her — “See you soon.”
Loki tries to warn Mobius and Hunter B-15:
“Someone is coming. Countless different versions of a very dangerous person. And they’re all set on war. We need to prepare.”
But they don’t listen to him because, in this timeline, they don’t remember Loki.
Season two of Loki will likely introduce us to many versions of Kang. After all, in post-credits of Quantumania, we did see a Council of Cross-Time Kangs, and it’s likely that they’ll play an important role in the new season of Loki.
Aside from Loki, we know that Sylvie, Kang the Conqueror, Mobius, Ravonna Renslayer, Hunter B-15 and Hunter K-5E will also return.
4. X-Men ‘97
Release Date: Fall 2023
X-Men ‘97 is a revival and continuation of the X-Men animated series, which aired from 1992 to 1997.
X-Men ’97 will feature the original characters, including Rogue, Gambit, Beast, Wolverine, Storm, Cyclops, Jubilee and Jean Grey.
The team of X-Men will be led by Magneto after Professor Charles Xavier’s departure from Earth in the original series finale.
5. Ironheart
Release Date: fall 2023
Ironheart is a miniseries that will possibly premiere in the fall of 2023, but the premiere could be pushed back to 2024.
The series centers on Riri Williams, a.k.a., Ironheart. We first met her in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever.
Riri is a super-genius and an MIT student who created her own flying metal suit, similar to Iron-Man’s armor.
In the comics, Tony Stark decides to help Riri become a superhero, but as for the series, no details were released.
We know that MJ and Ned will also be at MIT, but it’s unclear if they’ll appear in the series.
What’s certain is that the Hood will be there. In Marvel’s comics, he is a supervillain with a hood and cloak that give him magical powers.
It seems that the Hood will be Ironheart’s ally in the series, and it’s likely that we’ll see magic and technology somehow juxtaposed.
6. Agatha: Coven Of Chaos
Release Date: late 2023/early 2024
Agatha: Coven Of Chaos could see the light of day in the winter of 2023, but as with all of Marvel’s projects, it’s possible that the release date could change and be pushed to 2024.
Agatha is a supervillain and one of the most powerful witches on Earth.
Some of her students include the fearsome Scarlet Witch and Susan Storm, i.e., the Invisible Woman.
Agatha’s character appeared in Wandavision and Agatha: The Coven Of Chaos is the continuation and spin-off of that show.
